1964 Karmann Ghia Convertible Custom

Well this is different. This 1964 Karmann Ghia Convertible Custom was built to be a Can-Am style Race Car. The listing says the car was built in New York in the 1970s and is a one off custom car. Here are a couple of highlights from the listing…

– Hand-built Dayton-Type-24 Hour Race Car Body
– Two seater
– 1600cc twin carb
– Open cockpit
– Street legal

The ad also says that it will need new paint do to numerous cracks. The body is said to be Steel and Fiberglass, and that the builder was going for a McLaren style body.

I wonder if this would be legal for SCCA events. I am not sure that the car is worth the $9000 asking price but it is pretty neat. What do you all think this one is worth and would you drive it?
