Paul sent us in these great photos of his Rawlson Ferrari 250LM Replicar . To be honest I am not up to date with all of the Replicars that came out of the UK so I asked him to give me a bit of background info on it.
Rawlson Ferrari 250LM Replicar
Rawlson Racing was founded by Don Rawlson in 1972 in Dover, Kent UK. Working in fibreglass and producing automobile parts and in 1982 produced a replica of the Ferrari 250LM based upon the humble VW Beetle chassis.
Kits were sold by Alan Haswells, Replicar company who turned the kits into turnkey road going vehicles and during a short production history, ownership passed through different hands and came to final halt in 1990
with only 13 cars produced.
The original 250LM had a mid mounted 3.3litre V12 with a clam shell rear. The Replicar 250LM is a 2+2 based upon VW Beetle Chassis with aircooled 1800cc injected type 4 rear mounted engine.
Late in the cars history was a prototype with mid mounted Audi V6 & transaxle with clam shell rear, but this is languishing in a garage at the moment and probably has not been touch in 15 years or more.
The moulds have recently been found and it is possible given interest that body impressions could be available to utilize more modern purpose built chassis and running gear.
What a cool car with a cool story to go with it. If you have an interesting car feel free to send us an email with photos and history and we would be happy to share it with our readers.
