Hey everyone. Check this out. We recently acquired this CMC Gazelle VW Based Kit Car. This one had been in storage since 1987 and is in pretty good shape. Obviously after sitting for so long anything rubber is dry rotted (including the tires) and something got ahold of the driver seat and tore it to shreds. We have already removed the wiring harness to replace it with a Rebel Wire harness (available in our store) and pulled the engine to clean up the tins, install new plugs, wires, and all the the stuff you should change on a car sitting for that long.
It is our hope that we will get the car wrapped up by the end of the month and have it listed for sale. This one is going to make someone a really happy person!
For sale?
I believe we spoke on facebook. This one will be for sale but unfortunately it is a 4 speed and you said you needed automatic.
I have just recently got the same car from father-in-law to sell for him and would like more info if your willing to share. At least a follow up on your story
What is it you would like to know? Here is where the project is. I have just rewired the car, It has a new brake master, sealed fuel tank, a couple of new switches, etc. Got it fired up and quickly found out something was wrong. Turned it off and oil went everywhere. Pulled the engine again and it had to bent pushrods and I now believe a couple of the valves are stuck. I am currently trying to decide if I should find another “cheap” to toss in so I can get this sold (That was the only reason I bought it) or put this on a stand, tear it down, and rebuild it myself.
Target sales price when its done. I hope to be able to list it for $6500-$7000. As a project they generally sell for $1000-$3000 assuming its all complete and has a title.
Any other questions feel free to email me
Donnie, I have a tan/brown VW Gazelle. 1968 automatic built in 1976. Runs well, I drive it short distances around my property several times a year, not licensed since 1996. Mechanical needs good check and service. Interior needs work, upholstery, trim and seat covering. Canvas complete and in good shape. Body finish is good as is chrome. Located in northern Minnesota, Duluth area.
Your advice on best way to find a new home for this Gazelle will be greatly appreciated. Charlie
Hey Charles. To be honest your best bet would most likely be Facebook Marketplace.
Donnie,
Wanted to get some advice for a 1977 Gazelle kit car. We have the title that belonged to my father in law that passed away and we are trying to assist my mother in law with getting things taken care of. Thanks in advance.
Looking for a vw gazelle car kit to buy.
I have this same car—can someone give me a lead on where to get parts? My grill is badly corroded and needs to be replaced and the horn button is shattered. It is a fun car for carting my grandkids around so any leads on parts would be greatly appreciated.
You can get a lot of stuff from MGmagic. They have the grill and they are $399 https://www.mgmagicclassicmotorparts.com/
Hi Donnie how do I make contact with you as I would like to get some info about a car you mentioned a while bak
