I have been seeing a lot Fiberglass Kit Car Business for Sale over the past few months. Some have been really beat up up molds, and others have been entire businesses. This one just popped up on craigslist and may be a good fit for someone who is already in the automotive business.
Fiberglass Kit Car Business for Sale
This particular business is being offered at $40,000 and has a bunch of inventory that is going with it. It is located in the Atlanta area so you would really want to live in someone close proximity unless you do not mind loading everything up in a semi trailer (or 2) and shipping it to your new location.
Here is a list of what is included in the sale according to the ad.
- Complete mold set for a 1934 Coupe. Includes inner and outer doors, trunk lids, hood, floor, dash, Etc.
- 1934 Cabriolet Complete Mold with Component fixtures.
- 1933 Vicky Complete Mold with Component fixtures.
- Cobra Replica Standard Length, Stretched length, and Hard top Coupe.
- Jig for frames.
- Gel coat sprayers.
- Fiberglass chopper gun.
- Spare parts for guns.
- Raw materials such as activator, resin, etc.
This looks like a very complete setup but obviously you need to do your due diligence before purchasing anything like this. First thing I would want to know is where did these molds originally come from. They appear to be very good quality and I would have to assume they came from a well know manufacture.
I would also want to know what their current business sells yearly in either replacement parts, or complete kits (if they have sold any)
