Fiber Classics Handcrafted Cars
Welcome to Fiber Classics Handcrafted Cars. Fiber Classics was created showcase handcrafted vehicle history and to preserve Handcrafted Cars from the 1960s to 1980s. You may be asking yourself what exactly is a handcrafted car? Well let me try to explain.
Handcrafted Car is another term for kit cars, Component Cars, and Specialty Cars. These cars are often constructed of fiberglass and use what is known as a donor car. The problem with the term kit cars is that it automatically seem to evoke an idea that the car was built with scrap metal, rusted nuts and bolts, using your moms mini van to make a Countach. When in fact a lot of these cars are of very high quality and the builders are very skilled.
The 1960s-1980s was a huge time for Handcrafted Cars. Companies such as Fiberfab, Bradley Automotive, Classic Motor Carriages, and Elite Enterprises dominated the industry. These companies were selling 100s of cars a month and they ranged from Classic Mercedes replicas, Original designs, and sports cars.
There were even magazines dedicated to these great handcrafted cars. Publications such as Kit Car, Kit Car Monthly, and Kit Car Quarterly were popular. All of these publications offered great stories on people who hand built these cars in their garages “With Ordinary Tools” , offered great advertisements, and even classified sections way before the internet.
On this website you will find pages dedicated to some of these great “Kit Car” companies. In addition you will find a Handcrafted Car Registry where you will be able to add your car to the database and connect with people in your area. We will also be informing everyone of up coming handcrafted auto shows, vehicles and parts for sale, and great deals from our advertisers.
