George thought he was selling an Avenger GT15X but because it’s mounted on a square tube chassis, not a VW pan, I think he’s actually selling a Fiberfab Valkyrie. The engine (a 110 HP Corvair 6-cylinder with a “Spider” Carter 4-barrel AFB and headers) runs and much of the hard work is done — he just finished installing the steering — but there is definitely still much left to complete it and any buyer should be mechanically competent. Fiberfab made a frame for the Avenger 95inch VW wheelbase that used all corvair suspension with a rear mounted corvair engine,
The Valkyrie has a longer wheelbase on both the two piece and one piece bodies one was like 98 inch the oher was like 100inch,

What’s wicked cool about this car for sale is he is running an auto tranny in it so no hunting for gears in a small cramped foot well

Even if the gas pedal was moved over farther you wouldn’t have a ton of room for the other 2. It’s about the same size as the pedal box on the TVR but the shaft to the steering box doesn’t run though it like on this car.

The column isnt thru the firewall, it’s just laying there it still needs that fixed,
When the column is up where it goes all 3 pedals will fit (tight ) as this is the same as any other Avenger foot well made for the VW pan this one is just for the special custom frame

Well according to text he installed the steering. Now take a look at the pic of the fuel tank and battery that silver rod is the shaft from the column. When you look at where the rack is mounted a good 10 to 12 inches lower than a standard VW steering box it lines up. You can email the guy to find out but I think that all hooked up.

My bad, I assumed because it was way too low that no one would “install” the column there,
On my Avenger the column was so high you would not have seen it from a pic of that angle
I am guessing your foot will be hitting things when you go from gas to brake and your knees will also hit the column

You know what would fix that a chain offset. Basically it’s a timing chain and 2 gear cogs. You mount your bearings on a steel plate at the length you want to offset your input shaft to the column. One cog mounts to the rack input shaft the new input shaft and cog are on the spaced bearing and chain connects the two. The XR3 trike used that method for it’s steering and a few center drive show cars have done the same.

They used Harley cycle sprockets on the end of the column and the steering box and a chain from one side to the other,
The column was low and the wheel in your lap not a car for the chubby driver,
I love this Avenger, even with the work it still needs if I had room and the price was right I would jump on it.

It would seem Rich and I are echoing in this thread….that was 09 now i still love the corvair avengers what a sweet right this would be and no “bugs”
