Hey There,
A reader on our sister site www.vwkitcars.com emailed us this photo of a mystery kit car. The side resembles a Avenger but that is about it. The front is something else all together. Anyone have any idea what it could be?
Gary has pointed out that this is a Alta from a Denver company called Dune Buggy Inc. We will post additional information as we locate it.

It’s an ALTA (and I’ve heard it pronounced ALL-TUH by the president of the company). Made in Denver in the 70’s by a company that started as Designer’s Mfg, then changed to Dune Buggy Inc, and finally Unique Mobility. They are better known for the Bandit dune buggy, sometimes sold by Montgomery Wards, and not to be confused with the recent stolen name Bandit being made in California. There were also the Fargo, and two pre-Bandit buggies both named Wolverine.
As is always the case, people don’t want to print my correct answers, because there can never be found ANYONE on EITHER coast who can conceive of fiberglass cars made in Denver. Just list them already, and TRY to prove me wrong !
Hey Gary,
I am not sure what you mean by the last part of your comment. As of right now you offer the only info I have on this kit and I can pass it along. Until someone chimes in with another possible answer we will go with it..lol
Thanks
Donnie- The last part of your comment explains the last part of my comment. You express the exact doubt I was talking about. There will not be “another possible answer”, at least not a knowledgeable and truthful answer…lol to you too.
Hey Gary,
I did not mean anything by it. I have no reason to doubt you my man. I fully believe the car in the photo is an Alta, and I am glad you provided the info to solve the mystery.
Thanks
