As promised, here is Jeff’s other reverse trike, an IndyCycle, now sold as the SportCycle, originally designed by Jim Musser, and built from plans by enthusiasts like Jeff (although Jeff has deviated a little by installing a Porsche 911 steering rack). He’s got two Wilwood brake master cylinders with a balance bar to adjust front-to-back pressure and one clutch master cylinder, custom Sportcycle wheel spindles, Wilwood aluminum wheel hubs with drilled and slotted rotors with four-piston calipers up front, 16×7 front rims with 205/40 ZR16 tires at the front and a 5.5×17 bike rim with a 205/50 ZR17 car tire at the rear. He’s got a Wilwood quick-release steering wheel, a Kerkie racing seat, Simpson five point seatbeat, and a bike speedo that goes up to 185 mph. The bike powering it is a 1992 Suzuki GSXR 1100 with about 150 HP. Jeff says it handles great and has tons of power.
In the early 1970’s, I ordered a Aztec GT Gull-Wing from FiberFab. I had it colored Porsche blue at the factory. I installed it on a 1959 VW dragster which had a 200 HP Corvair engine mounted to a reversed VW Bus transaxel.
Oppps, I meant a Avenger GT.
I also would like to get a hold of Jim Musser. I spoke to him a few years back and he was still able to get some of the parts if someone wanted to build the sport cycle. Is there any way Jeff or someone can contact him. I look forward to hearing something back.
Hey everyone this is my sportcycle. I was in contact with jim and his son but have not talked with them in about 7 months. I live about 60 miles from him went to his shop a couple of times. The last time i talked to his son he said that they was going to put the web site back up and continue to sell plans and parts. But didn’t say when this would happen. I will try to contact them and see if they are still selling plans or parts. And i will write back here and let you all know. Jeff
Man, I would love to build one of these. I love it. Does anyone know how much he sells them for? Hopefully he does open up shop again.
Jeff, what could you give me an estimate of how much it might cost to complete a sport cycle, not including the doner bike? Thanks
Your sport cycle looks great. How is it on the road?
Hello Jeff,
I just purchased a set of plans, July 2010, from a guy that never built his Sportcycle. I have a 2006 Suzuki SV1000 for a donor bike. I too would like to contact Jim. The only parts I can’t fabricate are the front spindles and the body. Do you knowq where I might buy a set of spindles? Could you use Mustang 2 spindles? As far as the body goes, any ideas where to find one. You did a nice job on your Trike. Any help would be appreciated.
I, too, am still waiting on some news. More than ready for the plans.
Any word yet? I, too, am ready to purchase the plans.
man i hope everyone is still around… i fell in love with this kit when i was 16, now i have the money and the time to try and build one. i know that reply was back in 2009, but has anyone have yet to hear anything about the kit or the website being put back up?
I JUST BOUGHT A USED SPORTCYCLE REVERSED TRIKE WITH A KAWASAKI ZXR11. CAN YOU TILL ME WHAT THE VALUE WAS NEW AND WHAT IT IS WORTH TODAY.
