I got this rather confusing set of pictures from a fellow Canadian kit car owner wondering exactly what he has. I’m 99% sure it’s an Avenger variant (either official or modded), because every line of the car appears to be correct except for the strange connundrum of the missing hood scoops. I can’t find reference to FiberFab ever having made an Avenger without scoops. Anyone have any information on what this car is?
It’s on a ’65 Beetle chassis, and is made up of a main body shell, two door shells, the tail cone, a dash, and a rear panel.

This gentleman has also sent me these photos and I cant figure it out. I have looked thru about 30 old books. All I can think of is a valkrie/avenger variation. But I will keep looking.
If you look from the underside you may see the car was customized with a smooth hood. Just an idea.
if you look you will see that nothing has been done to the car, if you sand off the primer i sprayed on it all you will find is the ugly green jell coat that was factory! come and look for yourself.
i have been told by 4 people that it could be called a “phantom” i have looked at all sites and books i have found and no matches! the car is also going up for sale but i am not sure what to ask?
I Have worked on one of these kits. My son traded for one that was partially completed. Mechanically good , had the 914 engine tuned, redid the interior, fitted rollup windows , rear was done with 4 round taillights sunk in similar to Corvette. With 2 – 2bbl. carbs the thing was a beast. Loved to drive it till my son sold it . I have tracked the car down , it has been vandalized ( glass and interior ) I am going to buy it back. I fixed it once , I can do it again. This time even better.
MY FIRST AVENGER A 1967 MODEL HAD NO HOOD HOLES AT, IT WAS NOT MODIFIED. I HAVE PICTURES. LATER, MIKE
please send pictures of your 1967 model so that i can compare it to mine.

maybe it’s a banshee
My brother had a fiberfab avenger with no hood scoops just like the body in the pics. We stripped it down to bare chasis and rebuilt it completely. I don’t believe my bro’s car was modified either.
Hi I have a car that looks exactly like that the registration said it was a 73′ its on a VW chassis…..My Grandfather, the brother of the last guy that owned the car, seems to think that its and Aztec Gt….I’m not exactly sure myself what it is on the registration it says the car is a “assemble”

No it’s not an Aztec GT. Someone had called it an Avenger Varante??? Possibly a 1964 prototype. I was told by FiberFab that it is one of their avengers but wasn’t told what model.

This could be a Huron GT made in the Toronto area.
Going to sell it. Open to reasonable offers.

Is this car still for sale? Contact me. Tim
I made that exact kit. It was a Avenger GT-40. It was sold by Fiberfab in Fremont, Ca. I have pictures of the finished car. Richard
I own an early Avenger that also came with no nostrals on the front hood, so I assumed it was an early kit. I appreciate the reader above telling me how old it is. My father and I sculptured a set of nostrals for my car. It took 2 years for my father and I to finish this car. A picture of my car can be seen in the kit car club GTSCAs’ website, http://www.gtsca.com/ See Members’ cars.
