I have posted a few things that are slightly different than what POHT traditionally has written about it. I might do a bio about myself in the next few weeks, but for now I am off for the 14 consecutive year to one of my cool gigs. I am loading up the car, and trekking to the Carlisle Import and Kit Nationals. Those 14 years have seen me serve as head judge for Carlisle’s Standard f Excellence competition. This is an event where a team of 3 judges take a look at cars that owners have elected to see if they meet a, well, Standard of Excellence. It is normally a progressive completion where competitors will enter three or four years to achieve the prized 5 Commendations. If you are going to be there check out the Judging Saturday by the main grandstand, or better yet enter and see how you do. I have seen some excellent kits over the years from an exacting Diablo replica, to a wide body 356 on a Porsche pan and an airplane motor.
Now that I have done a shameless plug it’s your turn. While in Carlisle this weekend I would love to meet some of you. If you have a car there I would love to see it. I am going try and assemble a series of articles that I will publish on this great site over the next few months. It is your chance for a few of your 15 minutes of fame! Friday I will be wondering the grounds sporting one of my new Price of His Toys polo shirts. Saturday you will find me judging by the grandstand. If you see me stop me. If you want to drop me an email so we are sure to catch each other on the grounds or downtown magiccitymotoring@gmail.com will find me.
Hopefully Friday won’t be a full washout – see everyone on Saturday!
Tsk tsk… got there Friday after the rains and stayed through Sunday noon. Never did get a chance to catch you, John!
Rick- I was there Friday until about 2 spent most of the time chatting with Merill Powell. Didn’t see any Sterlings when I left. I was over in your area Saturday morning there was a nice older red car and a Silver one pulled in while I was looking. Both exceptional cars. When I was done judging the Standard of Excellence most of the kits were gone. Sorry we missed.
Yeah, I didn’t get to the showgrounds much before 1:30 on Friday and didn’t have the car to the field much before 2:30. The older red car is mine; the silver (or was it blue – there were no silver cars there..) was the owner of the company. I think we stayed on the field until around 4:30 or so, then headed up to the top of the hill where we were cooking dinner. Shame.. would have liked to have met you! Next year…
