Yes, yes, I know, I have been terribly neglectful of my loyal readership of late and I promise I’ll post some good stuff in the next few days… Until then, a horribly ugly Sterling that someone has made a series of unforgivable changes to, including a horrendous “hinged” top a la the first-gen Aztec kit car and a truly terrible interior (does it fit anyone over 5’6″?). It’s described as being in “excellent” shape and as complete and running, and is up for sale on eBay (#140284397656) in the Los Angeles area. So far know one has jumped at the $2,000 buy-it-now price and I doubt they will.

I think I’ve seen that dash in some of the later Sterling brochures, say about 1977 or so. I think that was a stock option. What I don’t get is the front fender area. It has a very odd shape to it.
That car….was looked at by one of our club members. It was at the bottom of a ravine, and the owner had told him that it had been there for over 20 years. The engine was covered over in muck and dirt…at that point the guy was asking $800.00. I have the photos of his day out to look at the car – this ebay’er is a scammer…I’ve dealt with him before. The dash is actually a late model from the Sovran. A few have surfaced with these dash panels, but not too many!
Yeah but it has that really cool custom prop-rod/mop handle…how could you go wrong?
I really do like that dash. Looks like the car was finished at some time in it’s past. Aside from the badly sorted top hinge I do like the rest – the nose is reminiscent of a Jamaican and the front tip parking lights remind me of the lights on a Miura – all in all – to me – it seems to have some real potential – Plus – I always liked that engine as it looks sooo different
