A friend of my friend Penski sent me this sighting… we’re pretty sure it’s a VW Beetle based Charger kit, but I’m filing it under “mystery cars” until someone can confirm for me. It’s one odd looking car, don’t you think? My personal theory by the way is that it’s loosely based on the old Aston Martin Bulldog prototype (the rightmost photo; designed by William Towns who also designed the Lagonda).
What do you think? Am I right or wrong with these theories?

Sure is a Charger kit car
Een MBC charger I build from 1977 with the gull doors and
starting 1983 there’s a charger II which seats 4 instead of 2 people.

They sure a some nice kits! I like them!
That does seem to be a Charger. Just looking thru a 1979 Complete guide to kitcars and they have one listed.

as you will see from my website you have there a VW Charger.
mine is now back on the road and legal. it has just undergone a complete rewire and engine rebuild. (which may explain why it is currently running like a bag of spanners!!, but running it is.)
i can send you more photos if you wish, or you can use the pic on the website.

Pre-dated the Bulldog by a few years (1981 for the Bulldog?) so the inspiration may have been the other way around! I think the Mk2 4 seater was inspired by the Lotus Esprit though. Still have a “brochure” of sorts somewhere, and a bloke over the road used to have a white one.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me anymore about this car, or a website, components used?
Thanks
Shane
Hello
I cant find anywhere else with info on the charger, do you know what windows it uses, from what car, i am looking in on buying one but it has no glass. Thankyou
Definately a Charger. Built mine in 1977/8 following the sale of a Siva Saluki (which seems to have just resurfaced in Portugal). Sold it to a guy who worked in TV & believe it featured in some kids programmes.
