Hey everyone. I must admit I was surprised to see the Aldino Kit Car Company For Sale on craigslist. If any of you have been into Kit Cars for an period of time you have most likely heard of the Aldino K/O . Joe Palumbo, who designed the Cimbria (SS), designed the Aldino K/O in the mid 1980s. This was right about the time the Feiro came. It was welcomed with rave reviews.

Aldino Kit Car Company For Sale – Owner Retiring

According to the craigslist page the Aldino Car Company has sold an impressive 650 kits during its production run. Here is the full ad…

Owner retiring. This is a rare opportunity to purchase the molds and manufacturing rights to a well established, well respected kit car company that has reached World acclaim. Over the past 25 years, with more than 650 units sold; the Aldino KO has become well known for its quality, ease of assembly and beautiful styling. This is an all bolt-on kit (no welding or fiber-glassing)

Based on the Pontiac Fiero chassis, which still passes today’s EPA crash tests (without air bags). Built on a chassis that, to date, is the safest ever built by GM, the car mostly mimics the 512bb Koenig Special. This car looks fast and is fast, and is among the safest cars on the road.

Faster than a Ferrari Enzo, the Aldino KO was just named one of the 10 fastest kit cars of all time by Kit Car Sales, UK, May, 2013; 0 to 60mph in 2.8 seconds; ¼ mile in 11.2 seconds; 0 to 100mph 6.1seconds with a modified Buick Grand National engine. It’s also capable of 35 MPG. This car has several engine options which will all fit, for example; stock 4 cyl. Iron Duke, stock 2.8 V6, 3800 Supercharged GM, 350 Chevrolet, 4.9 Cadillac, V8 LS6 Corvette, etc.

Several magazine articles have been written about this repli-car which mimics Classic Italian styling and has won various awards, such as; The Chicago Auto Show and the World of Wheels Auto Show “Best in Class” award two years in a row.

Complete kits sell for $12K. Completed cars sell for $36K. A car under construction and technical assistance are included. Will consider classic car or ?, for down payment. If you’re into cars, this is your chance of a lifetime to put your passion into your very own car company.

The owner is asking $75,000 . Is it worth it? Who knows. I have only seen a handful of these cars over the years which leads me to believe that the 650 kits sold is either a bit inflated, or there are 645 kits in various forms of completion all over the US that are collecting dust. But if that number is accurate and you are already in the handcrafted car business this may be something to offer replacement parts for many years to come.

If you are interested and have a serious offer contact them via the craigslist listing or their website.
