Todays’s “Everything that is wrong with kit car sellers” Post

So you ever browse listings to find things that you just cant help but wonder what the seller is thinking? I was doing just that today and came up with a list of some of my favorites. Sorry if any of you sellers read this website, but these are all worth taking the time to call you out on .

Fiberfab Banshee Body

This seller seems to think his/her banshee body and nose is worth $4500 . They are so convinced they did not even upload a photo¬† and have made the price FIRM! “RARE” kit car tax at its finest. back in 2008 we posted one that was going for $1000 OBO.

Fiberfab Valkyrie

Upside is it does have a chevy 327, downside is …well everything else. Ok I get it. its a good starting point. But thats about all. At $5750 I can think of several other cars I would rather own.

Fiberfab Avenger

If the 327 above does not tickle your fancy maybe you have $7850 laying around and you would like Vtec power instead. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done on this one, and just a quick read through and its apparent this seller thinks he will get back out what he put into it. Good luck with that one.

Let us know if you have seen any cars out there that have really inflated prices. We would love to post them.

If I had a hot rod shop of my own, these cars would be good projects to work on. For example, I could use the Valkyrie to see if a Hemi could be installed in place of the Chevy.

What’s “wrong” with sellers is they are trying to either a) recoup their investment costs which we know never happens or b) try to pass the cars off as “rare” and “desirable” to people that don’t know any better. The Valkyrie, if it has the factory tube chassis, is actually priced about right for those potential collectors who know the history on the cars. The asking price, is, of course, an asking price and I’m sure the owner could be talked to a reasonable number about a grand less.

Seems the last year or so 99% of the project kit cars have been “rare” and wicked overpriced, the valk in that shape is a money pit, I know I have one and owned others, the valk was like the v8 kelmark more engine than car but never lit the fires like the mantas did….
