After posting those last few Invader GT posts, Alan emailed me a reminder about a great looking one that sold on eBay earlier this year, done up in a racing style. I’m not particularly sold on the giant scoop (which appears to be an oil cooler) or the wing (not that they look bad), but those door pods make such an amazing difference to the lines of the Invader.
If anyone knows what came of this car, please write me!
Normally I dont dig bolted on gee-gaws or kid racer wings but this car looks sweet I do believe the best looking Early Invader I have ever seen,
I believe the oil scoop and wing keeps you from seeing how the styling of these die off behind the doors, I would love to see more pictures

I HAVE THAT SAME CAR BUT NO SCOUP IAM NOT SURE WHAT IT IS IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF INVADER IT IS I WILL PUT PICTURES ON HERE MABEY U CAN HELP ME IAM NOT SURE WHAT MOTOR SIZE OR ANY THING I WON IT IN A CARD GAME. AND IF I EVER NEED PARTS WEAR CAN I GET SOME. HELP ME IF U CAN ANYONE.
i too have just aquired an invader,and don’t know much about it.i know doors are hard to come by,so i’m making my own.right know i’m making the molds. once i do mine, i’m going to make at least one extra set for myself.if others are interested,and the price don’t scare them off,i’ll be willing to make more.the lexan is about $500,plus labor.when it comes together i’ll post it on this site. what about the hinges for the doors? anyone know where they came from or if they are availible?
For hinges and latches,
Hinges can be had at many marine and boat supply houses, use good stainless parts,
Some older kit cars used latches off things like big rig tool boxes, we now have more modern bear claw style latches, all this can be found with a Google search as I cant post links here,
normally gull wing windows that serve as doors always seem to crack at the hinge and latch mounting points, has to be a better way to do it.
I am not a expert on the Invader but just food for thought, some appear to have a door that is only a bent piece of plexi making for a window that opens for entry others have something a bit more “door like” it was the bent plexi that got the first Bradley laughed at in Car and driver/Motortrend back in the 70’s,
If I had to tackle the doors on the Invader, keeping in with gull wings I would take a good long look at the doors on the Laser 917 and Bradley GT 2, these cars do have the plexi window but have a ridged door frame around that making things look more higher end and finished, more real car than “kit”
