Hey everyone. I hope you are all doing great. A long time reader and owner of www.nationalsterling.org sent me some photos of this mystery kit car. To be honest I had no idea what it was other than it possibly being based on a sterling. It is amazing how many kit cars are out there that people have never seen. Myself included.
Before I could even look Rick had already remembered what the car was and where he had seen one for sale. From what I am told the car was called the SS1 and there was 5 built by a builder as a hobby. There was one for sale on the samba many years ago and Rick sent me those photos.
Fast forward to today and Geoff from Forgotten Fiberglass sent me an email asking if I knew anything about the same car. The kit car is currently for sale on Craigslist for $1500 . You can see it here http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/5429530823.html . I looked on our website to see if we had ever posted anything like it and the closest I could come was a flip top sterling we posted many years ago. Makes me wonder if this was the car that started this build https://fiberclassics.org/flip-top-sterling-conversion/
If you can tell us anything about these kit cars we would love to hear about it. Just comment below

That’s the great thing about kit cars–no 2 are exactly the same. Many people have seen their dream cars come to fruition. Most beginners start with great enthusiasm once their project is delivered. But after a month or so can lose interest,or become tired of their kit car becoming money pit. This SS1 looks to be a perfect blend of all British canopy cars such as the Sterling, Cimbria, Eagle, Nova and anything else that I may have missed
Have the same Bremen Sebring but 175 hp duel carb and 4 speed ,4500 miles for sale , white interior also….$7500.gets it = Have pics too…..
Tom this is not a Sebring as it says in the post. It was a custom built (based off the Sterling) I have seen your car on the samba and it is a normal sebring. Nothing custom by the looks of it. I hope you get it sold so you can fill your toy box up with something else.
I think I just bought the SS1 in the top pics,it has the same chips on the right side, bought it in Texas but was told it came from Georgia a few years ago.Does anyone have anymore info on these
Not much info on them to go around. The car on this page was for sale in Atlanta.
I picked it up in Fort Worth and he said he got it in Georgia
Are you the one that wrote the article a few years ago
